Grandma’s Banana Bread
/Growing up, my Grandma was famous in our family for her banana bread. My mom still makes this recipe today and every time we eat it, it brings back a flood of sweet memories. In celebration of #nationalbananabreadday today, we’re sharing the recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as our family does!
Grandma’s Banana Bread
3 large and very ripe bananas (tip: the darker the banana, the sweeter the bread).
1/2 cup (1 stick) of Butter
2 eggs (well beaten)
3 tablespoons of Sour Cream (key ingredient)
1 teaspoon of Vanilla
1 cup of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon of Salt
2 cups of All Purpose Flour
1 cup of Walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine “wet” ingredients: Bananas, Butter, Eggs Vanilla and Sour Cream.
Add Sugar, Baking Soda, Salt.
Pour half of the flour in batter, mix and then add the remaining flour.
Add-in the walnuts.
Fill a greased loaf pan 1/2 full of batter giving bread room to rise.
Oven cook times vary but bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes on the middle rack. Be careful not to over-bake! Check on it when you smell it and it’s golden brown on top. If you’re unsure, do the toothpick test. If the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done!
